Teams Lose to Rawlins County
On Tuesday, December 18th, the high school basketball teams traveled to Atwood to compete with Rawlins County. Both varsity teams lost to the Rawlins County teams. In girls action, the Lady Indians got off to a slow start offensively (3-17) and trailed the Lady Buffs 7-22 at the first quarter break. The girls could never recover due to poor shooting, even though they hustled hard. The Lady Indians were behind at each quarter break 19-37; 35-51; and lost 46-66. Beth Gienger led the Lady Indians in scoring with 17 points. Miller (26) and Wolters (10) paced the Lady Buffs. St. Francis won the JV girls game 29-20 in two quarters of play.
The varsity boys trailed the Buffs by approximately 10 points thoughout much of the game. St. Francis trailed at each quarter break 14-22; 25-34; and 38-49. Playing well, the Indians cut the Rawlins County lead to four with about 3 minutes remaining in the game, but missed several free throw attempts that might have tied the game near the end.
