Quinter Defeats St. Francis

JV Girls Win

Giving some "tips" to the official.

On Friday evening, February 15th, the Quinter varsity basketball teams both defeated the local teams in St. Francis.  The JV girls won their game 31-14 (two quarters) and the JV boys team was defeated by a talented Quinter team 22-76.

In varsity girls action, the game was very close throughout the first half with Quinter leading by 1 (11-12) at the first quarter break and by 2 (28-30) at halftime.  In the second half, Quinter extended their lead to 12 (36-48) at the third quarter break and went on to win 44-56.  The Lady Indians played hard as usual, but gave up several baskets on second shots due to Quinter's height advantage.  The Lady Indians shot well from the free throw line, but only had 10 field goals to Quinter's twenty five.

Sidnee Crabtree (14) and Elizabeth Gienger (11) scored in double figures for the home team.  Quinter got balanced scoring from several players with Brittney Leathers (16), Crystal Quint (12) and Hayley Harvey (10) leading the Lady Bulldogs.

The varsity boys game was decided early.  Quinter jumped out to a 6-15 lead by the end of the first quarter.  St. Francis fought back to bring the score to 13-20 with a little over three minutes remaining in the second.  Quinter then hit five three point shots in less than two minutes to extend the lead to 13-38.  The halftime score was St. Francis 19 - Quinter 41.  Sainty cut into the lead a little in the second half but Quinter's superior ball handing and shooting skills soon stretched the lead back to 22 points (34-56) at the end of three quarters and the Indians lost 45-75.

Senior Parent Night was observed at the Quinter game. Thanks for the support!

Trent Kinen was the only Indian player to score in double figures (11 points).  Quinter had three players in double figures, Wolf (15), Wittman (14), and Reed (13).

Senior Parent Night was also observed between the girls and boys varsity games.  Six seniors, Ted Crabtree, Cassie Dankenbring, Keaton Frewen, Chance Hobrock, Holly Keller, and Dara Loyd were introduced along with their parents.  The Indians now head into regional action.  The boys will play in Brewster on Monday evening and the girls in Tribune on Tuesday.
