Indians Struggle In Regional Loss

Season Ends

The Indian boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Monday evening (February 18th).  The boys lost at Brewster in the first round of the Regional Basketball Tournament.  The Indians just could not seem to get things going until the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach.

Brewster jumped out to a 6-10 lead in a low scoring first quarter with both teams playing good defense and having a difficult time getting easy shots.  In the second quarter, the Indians committed numerous turnovers against the Bulldogs pressure defense and Brewster jumped out to a 6-17 lead with 6:07 remaining in the second.  The Indians did not get many shot attempts in the rest of the half due to turnovers and Brewster began to find the basket with regularity.  The halftime score was St. Francis 12 - Brewster 35.

Brewster played very well in the third quarter, moving the ball quickly and getting good shots. The Bulldogs blew the game open and the quarter ended with Sainty trailing by 34 points (19-53).  The Indians played much better in the fourth quarter, but could not overcome the large early deficit.  The Indians lost 41-61.

Ted Crabtree scored 14 points to lead the Indians.  Three Bulldogs, Collett (12), Preston (12), and Williams (11) were in double figures for the winning team.

The Indian's season closed with a 7-11 record.  Seniors playing their final basketball game for St. Francis were Ted Crabtree, Keaton Frewen, and Chance Hobrock,
