Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Lady Indians basketball season came to a close on Tuesday night, February 19th, with a loss to the Tribune Lady Jackrabbits in the opening round of the Regional Tournament. The final score was St. Francis 37 - Tribune 71. Tribune jumped out to an early 5-14 first quarter lead using excellent quickness and ball handing skills to advance the ball up the floor and attack the basket. St. Francis fell behind by 12 at the halftime break 14-26.
The opening minutes of the third quarter dashed the Lady Indians chances as they made several turnovers and gave up easy baskets to the Lady Jackrabbits. With 5:32 remaining in the third, Sainty trailed 14-37. The Lady Indians hustled hard, but had difficulty finding the basket from the field and free throw line (8-24). The third quarter closed with St. Francis trailing by 30 points, 23-53. Tribune went on to win 37-71.
Andrea Holzwarth led the Lady Indians in scoring with 10 points. Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Jackrabbits: Crittenden 16, Shafer 14, and Moser10.
