Junior High Wrestlers Compete in NWKL Tournament
On Tuesday, February 19th, the junior high wrestling team competed in the Northwest Kansas League Wrestling Tournament in Hoxie. The team place 6th in the team competition. Team scores and placings were: 1st Goodland 176; 2nd Colby 175; 3rd Hoxie 164; 4th Rawlins County 99.5; 5th Oakley 86; 6th St. Francis 80.5; 7th Oberlin 78.5; and 8th Quinter 45. Nine junior high athletes placed in the top four positions. Placing fourth were Casey Keller, Taylor O'Leary, Keegan Sherlock, Ross Nicklos, Sam Reed, Martin Hnizdil and Dylan Peter. Foster Grant won third place and Zach Gienger placed second.
Coach Jenkins commented, "This was a very tough tournament. There is real strength in this league and our younger kids just couldn't keep up in the league race but more than half of our kids placed and all showed tremendous improvement." Congratulations to the junior wrestlers and coaches Steve Jenkins and Bruce Swihart for a successful season.
