Junior High Football Team Defeats Rawlins County
On Thursday, September 25th, the junior high football team won their second game of the season by defeating Rawlins County 34-14 on Greene Field. St. Francis scored first on a Zach Gienger run of 22 yards with 5:33 remaining in the 1st quarter. The conversion attempt was no good. St. Francis' second score, a safety, came when Rawlins County had a punt snap go out the back of the end zone after the young Indians had pinned the Buffaloes deep in their own territory.
On the first play of the second quarter, Taylor O'Leary scored on a 10 yard run (the conversion was no good). O'Leary scored again with 4:53 remaining in the half on a punt return of 75 yards. Keegan Sherlock scored the two point conversion and St. Francis led at halftime 22-0.
Taylor O'Leary returned the opening kickoff of the second half 62 yards for another St. Francis score (conversion no good). Rawlins County later recovered a St. Francis fumble and returned it for a touchdown with 6:14 remaining in the fourth quarter (conversion run good). The Buffaloes scored again with 1:19 remaining on a 20 yard run. St. Francis' final touchdown came with 0:45 remaining in the game when O'Leary scored again on a 51 yard run. Final score--St. Francis 34 - Rawlins County 14.
