Tournament Completes Junior High Volleyball Season

Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Northwest Kansas League Junior High Volleyball Tournament was postponed from last Thursday until Monday, October 27th, due to bad weather. The tournament was held at two sites with the 8th grade (A team) playing in Hoxie and the 7th grade (B team) playing in Oberlin.
Teams were seeded according to their season record and then the teams were placed on a bracket for NWKL competition. The St. Francis A team was seeded 7th and ended up placing seventh. The team lost to Oberlin 19-25; 18-25 in first round action. The team then played Rawlins County losing in three games 25-23; 22-25; 7-15. St. Francis defeated Goodland in the final round 25-15; 15-25; 15-9.
In B team (7th grade) action, St. Francis was defeated by Oakley 24-26; 20-25 in round one. In their second match, St. Francis lost to Colby 15-25; 16-25. In the third match of the day, the St. Francis B team defeated Quinter for seventh place 25-15; 25-22; 15-2. The tournament was the last volleyball competition for the 2008 season.
