Junior High Volleyball Team Wins Tourney
The junior high volleyball team won the NWKL "B" team volleyball tournament held in St. Francis on Thursday, October 22. The young Lady Indians defeated Goodland in their first match in three very close games 25-21; 22-25; 15-13.
In their second match, St. Francis defeated Oakley in two games 25-16; 25-21. St. Francis easily won the first game. In the second game, St. Francis fell behind 0-5 early but tied the game at 9. The Lady Indians trailed 16-18, but made several good plays to gain the lead 23-19 and later won the second match 25-21 to advance to the championship game.
In the championship match, the Lady Indians defeated Hoxie in three games. In game one, St. Francis jumped out to a 12-6 lead and cruised to a 25-11 win. Hoxie won the second game 21-25. St. Francis trailed 5-7 in game three, but tied the match at 11 and went on to win 15-11.
Team members include Kyla Bandel, Mariah Beikman, Brianna Cooks, Randee Grover, Echo Jones, Bailey Merklin, Ashlee Orth, Dallas Reed, Aly Schlepp, McKayla Taylor, Justice Wiley, and Valerie Wurm. Congratulations to the Lady Indians and Coach Tina Elliott on the championship!
