JH Teams Defeated by Rawlins County
On Thursday evening, November 19th, the Rawlins County junior high boys basketball team came to St. Francis for competition. The Buffaloes left with two wins over the home town Indians. The Indians showed improvement in many areas, but had a difficult scoring on offense.
In the "A" game, the Indians got off to a slow start and trailed 1-8 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Buffaloes stretched their lead to eleven (1-12) before the Indians began to find the basket. The Indians cut the lead to 11-16 at one point in the second quarter, but trailed by six (12-18) at halftime. In the third quarter, the Indians got off to a great start and cut the lead to one (17-18) with just over four minutes left. The later part of the quarter belonged to the Buffaloes and they stretched the lead to 17-23 with 3:16 remaining in the quarter. The Indians trailed 19-27 after three quarters of play. The Indians did not score in the 4th quarter and lost the game 19-32.
In "B" team action, the Indians led 6-3 after one quarter, but Rawlins County had tied the score at six by halftime. In the third quarter, the Indians fell behind 9-15 and trailed by seven (11-18) after three quarters of play. The Indians cut into the lead during the fourth quarter but lost the game by a score of 18-23.
Next game for the young Indians will be on Monday, November 23rd, when they travel to Hoxie. Game time is 4:00 PM
