Accelerated Reader Awards Assembly
St. Francis Elementary School held their year-end Accelerated Reader (A.R.) Awards Assembly on Friday afternoon, May 21, in the Grade School Gymnasium. All students were honored for their hard work throughout the year in the A.R. program. Seventy-three students in grades one through six were recognized for achieving the goal of 86% average comprehension on the tests taken throughout the year. Many students received special honors.
Students reaching 86% or greater comprehension on their AR tests were:
First Grade: Jesse Baxter, Shadryon Blanka, Garin Cooper, Rylan Doyle, DJ Easter, Kallen Feikert, Jasper Hunt, Emma Johnson, Brody Kaup, Jade Ketzner, Adam Krien, Chris Leibbrandt, Colton Neitzel, Tyson Poling, Seth Prentice, Brady Schoenrogge, Kobe Tice, Josh VanAllen, and Lukas Zweygardt.
Second Grade: Karly Bandel, Trenton Bartels, Shelby Bean, Cassidy Busse, Brady Dinkel, Seth Hilt, Isaiah Lee, Audrey Meyer, Seth Mills, Dakota Morris, Kaitlin Patton, Christina Stafford, and McKenna Tague.
Third Grade: Cody Baxter, Bob Havel, Kyla Hicks, Wyatt Hilt, Draven Houtman, Lauren Johnson, Conner Keller, Taylor Kinzer, KC Krien, Alex Queen, Mason Schmid, and Shayln Zweygardt,
Fourth Grade: Kenny Adams, McKinnley Bartels, Hanna Bracelin, Tate Busse, Emileigh Dinkel, Jake Faulkender, Frank Havel, Luke Lampe, Devin Patton, and Madison Tice,
Fifth Grade: Jenna Confer, Ryan Grover, Joel Hill, Josh Koger, Lane Lawson, Kenny Leibbrandt, Makayla Rogers, Taylor Rogers, Katie Schmid, Sophie White, and Taryn Zweygardt.
Sixth Grade: Garrett Brunk, Jakob Church, Jude Faulkender, Kattie Jenik, Journey Lee, Jason Owens, Austin Patton, Kylie Sherlock, and Hannah Wolff.
The top reader in each grade was recognized. To be selected as the top reader, the student must have attained at least 86% reading comprehension on the books read and also accumulated the most points in the class. Class winners were: 1st grade--Garin Cooper, 2nd grade--Karly Bandel, 3rd grade--Casey Krien, 4th grade--Devin Patton, 5th grade--Kenny Leibbrandt, and 6th grade--Jason Owens. These students received a certificate and an ice cream sundae from the Dairy King
The top reader in the entire school was also recognized with a certificate and two movie passes (with refreshments) for her and a friend. The top reader in the elementary school was Sophie White with 217.7 points.
The A.R. program is divided into seven reading periods. Students that met their reading goals during 6 of the 7 periods were rewarded with pizza and sodas before being dismissed to play. Grades 1-3 were dismissed to play in the park. Grades 4-6 remained on the school grounds.
