Indians Win NWKL Championship!

Figgins & Schiltz Both Win Two Golds

League Champs!

The St. Francis High School boys track team won the Northwest Kansas League track and field championship on Friday, May 13th.

St. Francis scored 121 team points to narrowly defeat Decatur Community for the team championship. Decatur Community accumulated 118 team points for second place. Third place went to Oakley with 102. Other team placings were:  4th - Hoxie (92), 5th - Quinter (71), and 6th - Rawlings County (49).

Isaac
Garrett Figgins won the 110 meter high hurdles in 16.84 seconds and the 300 meter hurdles in 43.36 seconds to earn two gold medals. Isaac Schiltz also was a double gold winner leaping 39' 6 3/4" to win the triple jump and clearing 12' 0" to win the pole vault. Isaac also earned second place finishes in the the high jump (6' 0") and long jump (19' 1"). 

Cody Killingsworth placed 2nd in the pole vault at 11' 6" and Mason Schiltz placed third at 11' 0". Adam Guthmiller was second in the discus with a nice throw of 133' 1". Casey Keller placed third in the high jump at 5' 4". Zach Gienger placed 6th in the shot put throwing 39' 1/2". Wyatt Landenberger placed 6th in the long jump with a jump of 17' 2 1/2".

Dylan Wolaver placed 3rd in both the 110 meter hurdles (17.78) and 300 meter hurdles (44.40). Ty Zweygardt was 5th in the 300 meter hurdles at 48.37.  Dylan Peter was 6th in the 110 hurdles at 19.74. Derek Queen earned a third place finish in the 440 meter dash at 58.07. Logan Lampe was 5th in the 200 meter dash at 24.93 and Lane Hoffman was 5th in the 3200 meter run in 11:48.96.

Two of the three Indian relays placed in the NWKL Meet. The 4 X 100 meter relay team of Tyler Raby, Derek Queen, Logan Lampe, and Thomas Douthit placed 3rd at 48.34. The 4 X 800 meter relay team (Lane Hoffman, Mason Schiltz, Casey Keller, and Tyler Raby) placed 4th in 10:31.61.

Oakley won the girls division with 139 team points. Decatur Community was second with 125. The other team placings for the girls teams were:  3rd - Hoxie (96), 4th - Quinter (90), 5th - Rawlins County (57), and 6th - St. Francis (41). 

Garrett - 100 m hurdles
Kaitlin Figgins was the only individual champion for the Lady Indians. Kaitlin won the discus with a toss of 99' 7". She also placed 2nd in the shot put with a heave of 33' 6". Sarah Trembly placed 2nd in the javelin at 110' 1" and 5th in the discus with a throw of 80' 1". Clarice Neitzel earned a 6th place finish in the discus at 78' 10".

In the running events, Aly Schlepp placed 3rd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:41.84. Mikaela Grace earned two 5th place finishes in the hurdle events. Mikaela ran 18.69 in the 100 meter hurdles and 54.00 in the 300 hurdles. Shelby Cassaw placed 6th in both the 1600 (6:46.62) and 3200 meter run (15:10 58).

One Lady Indian relay team placed in the meet. The 4 X 400 meter relay team of Figgins, Aly Marin, Schlepp and Grace earned fifth at 5:10.13.
