Sixteen Freshmen Students Selected for Publication
The freshmen students in Mrs. Gibson's English I class have been steadily increasing their writing skills. Recently they were asked to submit a short essay (less than 250 words) on a topic of their choice for a writing contest. The best essays would be selected by the contest judges for publication. Sixteen students (out of 28) were recently notified that their essay had been selected for publication.
Students whose essays were selected for publication include: Tilyn Bell, Hayley Brown, Alexia Curtain, Kaitlin Figgins, Allison Grice, Jenna Hill, Lexi Hilt, Jaquelyn Ketzner, Ross Nicklos, Caitlin Northrup, Trista Orth, Stephanie Perry, Chauntell Peter, Isaac Schiltz, Matt Tygart, and Logan Whitmore.
"I'm so proud of these students!" stated Mrs. Gibson. "What an honor as freshmen to have their writing published in an anthology. Our school will also be recognized in the anthology as receiving a "Writing Achievement Award." This award is given to schools whose students' entries to the essay contest are of exceptionally high merit."
These students' essays are now eligible for prize money. The top ten winners from the 7th-9th grade essay division will receive a $25 check to be able to buy a $50 saving bond and a complimentary copy of the anthology.
