Lady Indians Host Quad
On Saturday, October 10th, the St. Francis Lady Indians hosted a volleyball quadrangular in St. Francis. Participating in the quad were teams from Cheylin, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, and St. Francis. Hitchcock County won all three of their varsity matches. The Lady Indians won two of their three matches. Hayes Center went 1-2 for the day and Cheylin was 0-4.
In the first match of the day, the Lady Indians played Hitchcock County. The Lady Indians lost to the Lady Falcons by scores of 22-25; 17-25. The Lady Indians played well but made several costly errors late in each game.
Hitchcock County defeated Cheylin 25-10; 25-13.
St. Francis played Hayes Center in their next match. The Lady Indians won the first game of the match 25-19. In the second game, the Lady Indians jumped out to a 17-9 lead before winning 25-16.
Hitchcock County defeated Hayes Center 25-10; 25-19.
St. Francis then played Cheylin. St. Francis trailed 6-9 early in the match but recovered to win 25-17. In the second game, St. Francis led by one (14-13) before running off eight consecutive points to lead 22-13. The Lady Indians won the second game 25-17.
Hayes Center defeated Cheylin in three games 16-25; 25-19 25-15.
In junior varsity action, St. Francis split their matches. St. Francis defeated Hitchcock County 25-14; 25-18 and lost to Hayes Center 8-25; 17-25. Cheylin did not field a junior varsity team.
Next action for the Lady Indians will be on Tuesday, October 13th, when they travel to Sharon Springs to compete with Wallace County and Triplains.
