Winter Sports Practices Begin
The high school winter sports seasons are underway. Practices began on Monday, November 16th, for the basketball and wrestling teams.
The high school boys basketball team will be coached by Jeff Beims and Devin Dinkel. The team has twenty-three players including: Seniors (4)--Erick Estrada, Matt Raile, Trent Raile, and Drew Zweygardt; Juniors (7)--Garrett Figgins, Brooks Hobrock, Cody Killingsworth, Brett Lampe, Tyler Lauer, Nick Smith, and Zach Zweygardt; Sophomores (6)--Jonathan Butler, Gavin Cooper, David Palencia, Isaac Schiltz, Matt Tygart, and Ty Zweygardt; Freshmen (6)--Jordan Easter, Gus Jardine, Joey McCormick, Dylan Peter, Keegan Sherlock, and Dillion Straub. Tony Meyer will serve as the manager for the team. Brooklyn Hnizdil and Trista Orth will sever as statisticians.

Team members include: Juniors (8)--Silvia Bartoli, Mikaela Grace, Christina Hilt, Jodie Hilt, Shayla Hilt, Aly Marin, Jalyn McCauley, and Sarah Trembly; Sophomores (3)--Kaitlin Figgins, Jenna Hill, Jacquelyn Ketzner; Freshmen (5)--Laura Brunk, Krissy Harris, Clarice Neitzel, Ally Northrup, Aubrey Mills. The team will be coached by Larry Flemming and Susan Dinkel. Filmers for the teams will be Dale Northrup, Caitlin Northrup, and Jandy Dunn.
The high school wrestling team will be coached by Mike Frewen and Kyle Buffington. There are 13 boys out for wrestling. Wrestlers include: Seniors (4)--Grady Brunk, Darris Keller, Terrence Lamb, and Freddy Pacheco; Juniors (3)--Adam Guthmiller, Cody Sherlock, and Braden Schmid; Freshmen (6)--Thomas Douthit, Zach Gienger, Foster Grant, Casey Keller, Michael Leibbrandt, and Dylan Wolaver. Emily Mullins, Hayley Brown, and Taylor Archibald will server as Mat Maids for the team.
The first winter sports competition will be on December 3rd when the boys and girls basketball teams will host the Dundy County Tigers in St. Francis. Games begin at 5:00 PM. The first competition for the wrestling team will be on December 5th at the St. Francis Gabel/Jenkins Invitational Wrestling Tournament.
