Indians Place 7th at Wray Invitational

The St. Francis Indian wrestling team placed seventh the 46th annual Bob Smith/Wray Invitational Wrestling tournament on Saturday, December 17th. Wiggins won the tournament with 192.5 points. Rocky Ford placed second with 149 points. Other team placings were:  3rd-Ponderosa (119); 4th-Akron (101.5); 5th Fowler (95); 5th Merino (95); 7th-St. Francis 94; 8th-Wray (93); 9th-Yuma (87); 10th-Middle Park (81.5); 11th-Sedgwick County (40); 12th-Fleming (39); 13th-Simla (28); 14th-Cheyenne Wells (23); and 15th-Stratton (2).

St. Francis had one champion and five individual place winners in the tournament. Terrence Lamb placed 2nd at 135 pounds. Cody Sherlock placed 2nd at 140. Darris Keller placed 4th at 145. Grady Brunk won 3rd at 160 pounds. Adam Guthmiller won the championship at 189 pounds.

Freddy Pacheco-119 pounds:  Lost by fall to Martinez of Ponderosa; Won by fall over Grosz of Wiggins; Lost by fall to Burke of Fowler

Terrence Lamb-135 pounds:  Won by fall over Jackson of Wray-X; Won by fall over Tomlin of Fowler; Won by 9-7 decision over Watson of Wiggins; Lost 10-8 (in overtime) to Richards of Sedgwick County

Cody Sherlock-140 pounds:  Won by fall over Arnold of Akron-X; Won by 6-1 decision over Erker of Wiggins; Won by 7-4 decision over Johnson of Fowler; Lost a 5-2 decision to Barber of Merino

Darris Keller-145 pounds: Lost 9-3 to Marini of Wiggins; Won by fall over Groves of Wiggins-X; Won by fall over Suto of Rocky Ford; Won by 9-4 decision over Robinson of Ponderosa; Lost a 5-0 decision to Marini of Wiggins.

Grady Brunk-160 pounds:  Won by fall over Moreno of Ponderosa; Won by fall over Box of Cheyenne Wells; Lost by fall to Korf of Yuma; Won by 10-4 decision over Mullin of Simla; Won by fall over Walker of Wiggins.

Adam Guthmiller-189 pounds:  Won by fall over Harmes of Akron; Won by 6-5 decision over Davis of Wiggins; Won by 9-1 decision over Macchione of Middle Park.
