Junior High Tracksters Compete Well in Own Invitational

Dallas Reed Sets New School Record in Pole Vault

The St. Francis Junior High Invitational Track and Field Meet was held on Tuesday, April 20th. The local teams competed well in the eleven team meet. The seventh grade girls team placed second in their division. The eighth grade boys placed third as a team. The seventh grade boys placed eighth and the eighth grade girls ninth. Dallas Reed set a new St. Francis school record in the 7th grade girls pole vault clearing 6' 6".

Winning individual events were:  Dallas Reed--7th Girls Pole Vault (6'6"--New St. Francis school record!); Echo Jones--7th Girls Long Jump (13' 11 1/4"); Mason Schiltz--8th Boys Pole Vault (9' 0"); Derek Queen--8th Boys 400m (58.36), and Cade Bracelin--7th Boys Shot Put (33' 3/4").

Other 7th grade girls placing in the Invitational were: Valerie Wurm--3rd-100m (15.25), 2nd-long jump (13' 9"); Echo Jones--4th-100m (15.44), 2nd-100m hurdles (18.99); McKayla Taylor--5th-100m (15.72), 5th-200m (32.70), 3rd-100m hurdles (19.73); Justice Wiley--6th-800m (2:57.29), 2nd-high jump (4' 2"); Dallas Reed--3rd (tie)-high jump (4' 0"), and Brianna Cooks--2nd-shot put (28' 7").

The 7th grade girls 4 X 100m relay team (Valerie Wurm, Justice Wiley, McKayla Taylor, and Echo Jones) placed 2nd with a time of 59.14. The 4 X 200m relay team (Ashlee Orth, Mariah Beikman, Justice Wiley, and Kyla Bandel) placed 4th at 2:20.61.

Other 8th grade girls placing in the Invitational were:  Randee Grover--5th-100m hurdles (24.65); and Aly Schlepp--2nd-long jump (13' 4"), 5th-triple jump (27' 7 1/2").

Other 7th grade boys placing in the Invitational were: Kyler Zweygardt--4th-shot put (30' 9 3/4"), 3rd-discus (85' 2"); and Cade Bracelin--2nd-discus (85' 11").

Other 8th grade boys placing in the Invitational were: Derek Queen--2nd-100m (12.88), 2nd-long jump (15' 5"); Logan Lampe--2nd-200m (26.95), 2nd-400m (1:00.93), 4th (tie)-high jump (4' 10"); and Wyatt Landenberger--5th-triple jump (31' 3 1/4")

The 8th grade boys 4 X 100m relay team (Wyatt Landenberger, Mason Schiltz, Logan Lampe, and Derek Queen) placed 2nd with a time of 51.99. The 4 X 200m team (Eric Hart, Wyatt Landenberger, Austin White, and Tyler Lee) place 4th with a 2:00.59 clocking.

Final Team Results--8th Grade Girls: 1st--Dundy County (103); 2nd--Oakley (93); 3rd--Oberlin (78); 4th--Rawlins County (61); 5th--Cheylin (46); 6th--Burlington (39); 7th--Brewster (28); 8th--Idalia (14); 9th--St. Francis (12); 9th--Bethune (12)

Final Team Results--7th Grade Boys: 1st--Burlington (81); 2nd--Dundy County (78.5); 3rd--Oberlin (55.5); 4th--Weskan (54.5); 4th--Rawlins County (54.5); 6th--Oakley (34); 7th--Bethune (33); 8th--St. Francis (28); 9th--Brewster (22); 10th--Cheylin (13); 11th--Idalia (8)
