Track Teams Compete in Oberlin Invitational
The St. Francis boys track team earned a third place finish in the Oberlin Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, May 4th. Norton won the meet with 162 points. Phillipsburg placed second with 155 points. The Indians scored 144 team points. The Lady Indians placed 8th in the meet scoring 40 points. The Smith Center girls placed first and Oakley earned second place.
Matt Raile won the 200 meters with a time of 23.62. Matt also placed second in the 100m running 11.45 seconds and second in the long jump with a leap of 19' 9". Garrett Figgins placed second in the 110m high hurdles with a time of 15.92. Garrett also earned a 5th place finish in the 300m hurdles running 44.05. Adam Guthmiller placed second in the discus with a throw of 123' 3". Zach Gienger was 6th in the discus with 110' 7". Marvin Miller placed 5th in the 1600m run with a clocking of 5:09.53. Isaac Schiltz placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5' 10", 4th in the pole vault clearing 11' 0", and second in the triple jump with 37' 7". The boys 4 X 100 relay team consisting of Cody Sherlock, Garrett Figgins, Drew Zweygardt, and Matt Raile ran 46.94 to place 4th.
Mikaela Grace placed 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a time of 51.95 seconds and also earned a 6th place finish in the 100m hurdles with at 18.35. Sarah Trembly placed 2nd in the discus, throwing 105' 2". Kaitlin Figgins earned 6th in the discus with 95' 0". The Lady Indians 4 X 400 relay team (Mikaela Grace, Shayla Hilt, Aly Marin, and Kaitlin Figgins) placed 4th with 4:51.37.
The next competition for the teams will be on May 14th, when they will be competing in the Northwest Kansas League Meet at Goodland.
