High School Track Teams Compete at Dundy County
The high school track teams opened their season on Tuesday, April 5th, at the Dundy County Stratton Invitational Track and Field Meet in Benkelman, Nebraska. The teams made a good showing for their first competition of the year. The boys team placed 4th scoring 67 points. The girls team placed 9th with 38 team points.
St. Francis had one individual champion at the meet. Isaac Schiltz won the boys high jump with a leap of 5' 10".
Four athletes earned second place medals. Isaac Schiltz placed second in the pole vault clearing 12' 0". Garrett Figgins won second in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.00. Kaitlin Figgins earned second place in the girls discus with a toss of 97' 10". Aly Schlepp ran 2:43.30 in the 800 meter run to also place second.
Adam Guthmiller placed third in the boys discus with a throw of 132' 11". Cody Killingsworth placed third in the boys pole vault clearing 11' 6".
Three other St. Francis entries placed fourth at the meet: Mason Schiltz in the pole vault (11' 6"); Shelby Cassaw in the 3200 meters (15:50.10); and the boys 4 X 100 meter relay team (47.20 Ty Zweygardt, Derek Queen, Logan Lampe, and Garrett Figgins).
