Track Teams Compete in Hoxie Invitational
Boys Place 4th
The high school track teams traveled to Hoxie on Friday, April 8th, to compete in the Hoxie Invitational Track and Field Meet. Seven teams competed in the meet including Cheylin, Grainfield-Wheatland, Hill City, Hoxie, Palco, Rexford-Golden Plains, and St. Francis.
The Indian boys placed fourth in the meet scoring 74 points. Hill City won the meet with 102 points. Hoxie placed 2nd with 93, and Golden Plains was third with 83 points. Wheatland placed 5th (70), Cheylin 6th (61), and Palco 7th (36).
St. Francis boys earned three individual gold medals. Garrett Figgins was a double winner earning first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.48) and the 300 meter hurdles (45.77). Isaac Schiltz won the high jump with a leap of 6' 4".
Adam Guthmiller placed second in the discus with a toss of 138' 0". Isaac Schiltz earned the only other second place medal of the day with a leap of 38' 10 1/2" in the triple jump. Zach Gienger placed 6th in the discus at 109' 7". Dylan Wolaver placed 4th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.29. Dylan also place 4th in the 300 hurdles clocking a 49.12 performance. Ty Zweygardt was 5th in the 300 hurdles (50.14). Derek Queen placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.39. Lane Hoffman was 5th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:30.78. Casey Keller earned 6th in the high jump clearing 5' 6".
Two St. Francis Indian relay teams placed in the meet. The 4 X 100 team of Ty Zweygardt, Dylan Wolaver, Isaac Schiltz, and Garrett Figgins placed 3rd with a time of 47.43. The 4 X 400 relay team (Dillon Straub, Isaac Schiltz, Logan Lampe, and Derek Queen) placed 5th at 4:05.55.
The Lady Indians placed 7th in the team standings with 35 points. Hoxie won the girls division with 114 points. Hill City was a close second with 112. Wheatland was 3rd with 91 points. Cheylin 4th (62), Golden Plains 5th (55), and Placo 6th (40) rounded out the girls team scoring.
Sarah Trembly placed second in the girls discus throw with a mark of 87' 11". Kaitlin Figgins placed 3rd in the discus at 85' 8". Kaitlin also earned 3rd in the shot put with a heave of 30' 3". Sarah placed 4th in the shot at 28' 8". Christina Schoenrogge earned 6th in the shot at 26' 2". Trista Orth placed 5th in the high jump clearing 4' 4".
Two Lady Indian relay teams placed in the meet. The 4 X 800 meter relay team (Aly Marin, Aly Schlepp, Shelby Cassaw, and Kaitlin Figgins) placed 3rd at 12:12.31. The 4 X 100 team of Aly Schlepp, Ally Northrup, Lexi Hilt, and Trista Orth placed 5th at 1:00.06.
