High School Boys Win Quinter Invitational

The high school boys track team won the championship at the Quinter Invitational Track and Field Meet on Friday, April 29. The Indians scored 68 team points to narrowly edge Wheatland-Grinnell with 66. Decatur Community placed third in the boys division and Quinter fourth.

The Indians placed three individuals in the men's pole vault. Isaac Schiltz won the event clearing 12' 6'. Mason Schiltz placed third with a vault of 12' 0", and Cody Killingsworth placed 4th at 11' 6".

In the other field events, Isaac Schiltz placed second in the boys high jump clearing 6' 0" and second in the triple jump leaping 38' 6". Adam Guthmiller placed 5th in the discus throwing 129' 7".

Garrett Figgins won the 110 meter high hurdles running 16.94. Garrett also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.80. Dylan Wolaver placed 5th in the 110 meter hurdles at 17.95 and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles at 46.40. Thomas Douthit placed 4th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.09. Lane Hoffman placed 5th in the 3200 meter run with an 11:53.65 clocking.

In the girls division, St. Francis placed tenth in the team scoring with 22 points. Decatur Community, Quinter, and Hoxie took the first three places in the closely contested team scoring. Only five points separated the first three teams.

On the track, Aly Schlepp placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:43.65. Shelby Cassaw placed 6th in the 1600 meter run with a clocking of 6:38.84 and 5th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14.58.69. 

The girls 4 X 800 meter relay team consisting of Kaitlin Figgins, Shelby Cassaw, Aly Marin, and Aly Schlepp placed 4th with a time of 12:06.62.

In the field events, Kaitlin Figgins placed third in the shot put with a heave of 30' 5" and 5th in the discus throwing 95' 8". Sarah Trembly placed 4th in the discus at 98' 0" and 6th in the javelin with 96' 3.5"
