Colby Invitational Held Friday
The Colby Invitational Track and Field Meet was held on Friday, May 6th. Fourteen teams competed in the meet. St. Francis placed 7th in the men's division and 10th in the women's division.
Holcomb won the men's division with 94 team points. Colby was second with 86 and Goodland third with 62 points. St. Francis placed 7th in the men's division with 36 points. Colby easily won the women's division with 152 points. Holcomb placed second with 84 and Oakley third with 70. The Lady Indians placed 10th with 16 points. St. Francis competed with partial teams due to some students participating in State Journalism.
Individuals scoring in the track meet for St. Francis were Garrett Figgins, Isaac Schiltz, Mason Schiltz, Adam Guthmiller, and Kaitlin Figgins.
Garrett Figgins won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.44 and placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles running 43.56. Isaac Schiltz placed third in the pole vault clearing 11' 6", fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6' 0", and 4th in the triple jump at 38' 10 1/4". Mason Schiltz cleared 11' 0" to earn 6th in the pole vault. Adam Guthmiller placed 3rd in the discus with a distance of 129' 3".
Kaitlin Figgins was the only Lady Indian placing in the meet. Kaitlin won the discus with a throw of 103' 8" and placed 3rd in the shot put with a heave of 31' 10 1/2".
The teams will complete in the Northwest Kansas League Track and Field Meet in St. Francis on Friday, May 13th.
