Junior HIgh Loses Close One

On Monday, October 10, the junior high football team traveled to Colby to play the Eagles. The young Indians played well, but lost a close battle to the homestanding Eagles 28-22. The Indians led by two touchdowns early in the contest, but could not hold on for the victory.

Clay Cassaw scored on a 4 yard touchdown run in the second period. Garrett Brunk added the two-point conversion. Brunk also scored on a 32 yard touchdown run later in the second period. The two-point conversion attempt failed. Just before halftime, Taylor Rogers scored on a 65 yard pass reception from Clay Cassaw. Justin Pacheco ran for the two point conversion.

Coach Kyle Buffington made the following comments on the game, "This was a game of big plays on offense. We had another good defensive day, as did Colby, however. It was the big plays that decided the game. We started off with a 14-0 lead, and then we got in the mindset of settling in rather than pinning them down. That allowed them to get back into the game. We had a TD called back in the 1st quarter and we failed to get into the end zone after being in the red zone deep into the 4th quarter. We had the chance to win this game but Colby is a great team and it was just a little more than we could handle in the end. We really played a pretty good ball game all in all. We were able to do things on offense we haven’t done all season long and I feel good about how we are playing down the home stretch"

The Indians play Goodland on Greene Field on Monday, Ocotber 17, at 5:30 PM.
