Junior High Defeats Goodland

On Monday, October 17th, the junior high football team completed their 2011 season with a win over the Goodland Mustangs. The win gave the young Indians a season record of 4-3.

Travis Rogers scored the first Indian touchdown on a 52 yard run in the first quarter. Garrett Brunk ran for the conversion points. A short time later, Brunk scampered 42 yards for the second Indian touchdown. Justin Pacheco ran for the 2-point conversion.

In the second period, Brunk gathered in a Mustang fumble a ran it in for another TD. Travis Rogers ran for the conversion points. Clay Cassaw ran for a 80 yard touchdown late in the second period. The conversion attempt failed.

Brunk scored his third touchdown of the game on a 15 yard run in the 3rd period (conversion failed). J.R. Landenberger scored the final Indian touchdown on a 45 yard run in the final period (conversion failed). The Indians defeated the Mustangs 42-18.

Coach Kyle Buffington made the following remarks about the game, "This was a fun game to finish off the season. Goodland had some talented kids that made a couple big plays to get on the board but otherwise we dominated this ball game. We knew going into this game we could either come out of it with a winning season or a losing season and we played our best game of the year to come out on top. I truly admire the determination of this group as a whole. They did everything they were asked to do all season long and became better competitors as a result. The future of Saint Francis Indian Football looks very bright if these young men continue to put in the time, the heart, and the work it takes to become successful."
