District Secretary Retiring

The USD 297 district secretary has decided to retire. Sharon Olofson, a longtime school employee, turned in her resignation at the recent board meeting. She will retire at the end of the 2011 calendar year.

Sharon has filled several duties during her time of employment for the district. She has served the last 25 years as secretary to the superintendent, board clerk, and district bookkeeper. Sharon also served several years as a part-time librarian with Sharon Girty and a half-time paraprofessional in Title I with Elizabeth Weber. Before taking the job as district secretary, she worked as a half-time paraprofessional in the junior-senior high school resource room under Scott Carmichael.

Sharon has worked under two superintendents, Carl Werner and Rob Schiltz. She has seen many changes in the school over the course of the 32 years she has been employed by the St. Francis Schools.

Mrs. Olofson was presented a clock with an engraved plaque at the last board meeting. The clock was presented by Derrick Tice, board president. Mr. Tice commented, "You will be missed. You are well respected, never have a discouraging word and came to work each day with a great attitude."

Traci Neitzel has been working with Sharon for several months to learn the position. Traci will take over full time now that Sharon is retiring.

Sharon smiles as students wish her well.
Sharon plans to spend some time relaxing, riding her horses, and spending time with family and friends.

Sharon, everyone in the St. Francis Schools appreciates all you have done for the district. You have done so with a smile and kindness for everyone. You are very deserving of some "me" time. Enjoy your retirement!
