Junior High VB Outplayed by Lady Buffs
The junior high volleyball teams lost to the Lady Buffaloes of Rawlins County at all three levels on Thursday, September 25, in Atwood. The A team lost 19-25; 6-25. The B team lost 8-25; 5-25. The C team also lost by a score of 12-25; 11-25.
The B team match was played first. The Lady Indians had a difficult time passing serves from the Lady Buffs and fell behind 3-13. Taighe Weeter served three consecutive points to trim the led to 6 13, but the Lady Buffs won game one 8-25.
Game two was much the same. The Lady Indians fell behind 3-13 while one of the Lady Buffs served 12 consecutive points. The B team lost to Rawlins County in game two 6-25.
The A team gave a good Rawlins County team a challenge in game one. The Lady Indians fell behind 1-6 in the early going and never could quite recover from the deficit. Two ace serves by Lindsey Johnson trimmed the RC lead to 4-6, but the Lady Buffs then gained a 6-point advantage (6-12). A St. Francis kill, a RC middle line violation, and an ace by Lauren Johnson cut the margin to four (10-14), but that was as close as the Lady Indians would get. The St. Francis A team lost game one 19-25.
Game two was much different. St. Francis earned their only lead of the evening on a kill by Lauren Johnson to open the game. Inaccurate passing and communication errors by the Lady Indians allowed Rawlins County to win easily 6-25.
In the first C team game, the Lady Indians trailed 6-14 in the early going. Marlo Jensen had a nice kill to move the score to 10-17, but the Lady Indians were defeated by the Lady Buffs 12-25.In game two, the Lady Indians jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind 4 nice serves by Sierra Robbins. But then the Lady Indians had trouble passing the serves from Rawlins County's Corvette Hackspacher and fell behind 4-17 as Corvette served 17 straight points. The run was stopped by an Audrey Meyer kill. The Lady Indians lost game two to the Lady Buffs 11-24.
The junior high volleyball teams will play in Hoxie on Saturday, September 27, against teams from Decatur Community, Hoxie, and Trego Community.
