Junior High Football Team Dominates Again

The junior high football team moved their season record to 4-0 with a 34-6 win over Dundy County on Thursday, September 25. Dundy County had first possession, but the Indians stopped DC on downs at the 36-yard line.  The Indians then went on a nice 44 yard drive using good line blocking and strong running. The drive was culminated by an 8 yard touchdown run by Jordan Raby. Tayton Weeter passed to tight end Brady Dinkel for the conversion points. The Indians were up 8-0 with 5:23 on the first quarter clock.

It didn't take Dundy County long to answer. Gaining good field position on the return, DC scored a touchdown just over a minute later. The conversion was no good. The score stood at 8-6 with 4:17 left in the first period.

Late in the first quarter, defensive back Tiernan Poling intercepted a DC pass to give St. Francis the ball on their own 20 yard line. On the first play of the second quarter, quarterback Tayton Weeter threw a pass to Jordan Raby. The pass and run covered 55 yards for another Indian touchdown. The conversion failed. The Indians led 14-6 with 7:47 left in the first half.

On the next St. Francis possession, the Indians drove deep into Dundy County territory but did not score. The Indians fumbled the snap on the 1-yard line into the end zone. Dundy County recovered the football for a touchback.

The Indians opened the second half well. Jordan Raby followed good blocking and returned the kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown. Again, the try-for-points failed. At 7:36 the Indians led 20-6.

Midway through the third quarter, Tayton Weeter connected on a 50-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brady Dinkel. Weeter's pass to K.C. Krien resulted in a successful two-point conversion. The Indian advantage grew to 28-6 with 4:45 left in the third quarter.

Late in the third period, Tiernan Poling collected his second pass interception of the game, and the Indians started a new drive on their own 40-yard line. Using a running clock in the fourth quarter at Dundy County's request (wanted to finish game by 4:30 due to other school activities), the Indians culminated the drive with a 7 yard touchdown pass from Weeter to Dinkel with 4:54 left in the contest. The conversion attempt failed. The Indians defeated Dundy County 34-6.

The junior high football team will play Wallace County in Sharon Springs on Thursday, October 2.
