FFA Judging Team Competes at CDE

Judging teams pose for photo at CDE

On Wednesday, October 22, seventeen FFA members competed in the Northwest District Dairy Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE). The contest was held in Bird City at the Thresher Grounds. The field of over 200 FFA members from around the district judged four classes of cows, two heifer classes and presented two sets of oral reasons.

Two teams represented St. Francis at the CDE. The Greenhand/Freshman Team consisted of Jake Faulkender, Emileigh Dinkel, Janeth Perez-Medina, Martin Beikman, Madison Tice, Matthisen Witzel, Jylian Laten, Hanna Bracelin and Jesica Pacheco. The Greenhand team placed 4th out of thirteen teams, and Matthisen had an impressive 8th place finish as an individual.

Jude Faulkender judging at CDE
The Senior Team was lead by Garrett Brunk and his 10th place finish individually. The team consisting of Travis Rogers, Makayla Rogers, Sydney Sundstrom, Garrett Brunk, Justin Pacheco, Jude Faulkender, Ryan Grover, and Chris Hoard, placed 6th out of sixteen teams.

Following the CDE, members toured the Bird City Dairy. St. Francis FFA would like to thank Mr. Max Keltz and Cheylin FFA for hosting the event, the community members that judged reasons and Mike McCarty and the Bird City Dairy for providing cattle and the tour.
