A Team Boys Defeat Rawlins County

St. Francis jumped out to a quick thirteen-point lead in the first quarter, extended the margin to twenty-five points before halftime, and cruised to a 50-35 win over the visiting Rawlins County Buffaloes on Thursday, November 20. St. Francis lost the B team game to Rawlins County, 20-44.

The A team boys game was dominated by the Indians in the first half. Rawlins County made two free throws to open the scoring, but the Indians led 14-2 before the Buffaloes scored again. St. Francis received baskets from Tayton Weeter (coast-to-coast lay-in), Brady Dinkel, two baskets from K.C. Krien (offensive rebound and fast break), two from Jordan Raby (steal-two and fast break), and a jumper from Conner Keller during the run. Rawlins County made three more free throws before the first quarter expired, but the Indians also added a nice post-move basket by Draven Houtman and a driving basket by Dinkel. St. Francis led 18-5 after one quarter of play.

The margin increased to twenty points (28-8) on another drive by Brady Dinkel. Rawlins County scored their first field goal of the contest with 2:26 left in the second period. St. Francis scored twice late in the first half. An assist from Jordan Raby created a lay-in (plus one) for Dinkel, and a fast break basket by Bryce Raby gave the Indians a 35-10 lead. The Indians led 35-12 at halftime after Rawlins County scored on a fast-break just before halftime.

Play in the second half became sloppy, as St. Francis backed off the defensive pressure, played numerous players, and continued to push the ball offensively. Conner Keller nailed a trey at the four minute mark to move the score to 38-17. Draven Houtman made another nice post move at 2:20 for another Indian score. An assist by Jordan Raby led to a basket by Tayton Weeter late in the period. The Indians led 42-23 after three periods.

Cody Baxter scored the first basket of the final period after an offensive rebound. A nice pass from Tiernan Poling led to a Houtman score midway through the period. St. Francis defeated Rawlins County 50-35.

Scoring for the Indians were:  Brady Dinkel 14, Draven Houtman 8, Joradn Raby, 8, Tayton Weeter 6, Conner Keller 5, K.C. Krien 3, Hunter Helton 2, Cody Baxter 2, and Bryce Raby 2. Rawlins County was led by Chocan and Olson with 10 each. St. Francis made 7 of 11 free throws, Rawlins County was 9 of 21 from the line.

St. Francis lost the B team game to Rawlins County 20-44.

The Indians will play Wallace County on Monday, November 24, in St. Francis.
