Track Teams Compete in Triplains Invitational

On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, the high school track teams competed in the Triplains Invitational in Colby, Kansas. St. Francis earned a second place finish in the boys team standings and an 8th place in the girls team race. Individual champions in the girls division were Valerie Wurm in the 100 meter dash and Dallas Reed in the pole vault. In the boys division, Jude Faulkender won the discus and Cade Bracelin won the javelin. The girls 4 X 100 meter relay team (McKayla Taylor, Valerie Wurm, Kayla Reed, and McKenzie Taylor) won the championship. The boys 4 X 800 meter relay team (Jake Faulkender, Tate Busse, Matt Howell, and Francisco Fernandez) also won first place.

Boys

In the boys division, Brewster won the team championship scoring 98 points. St. Francis placed second with 70 narrowly edging Wallace County with 66 points. The remainder of the boys team standings were: 4th - Triplains 46, 5th - Heartland Christian 40, 6th - Northern Valley 37, 7th - Greeley County 34, 8th - Cheylin 28, 9th (tie) - Quinter 26, 9th (tie) - Weskan 26, 11th - Oakley 25, 12th (tie) - Palco 21, 12th (tie) - Trego Community 21, 14th - Wheatland-Grinnell 10, 15th - Golden Plains 7, and 16th - Western Plains 2.

Indians placing in the meet are listed below.

Cade Bracelin:  1st in javelin (145' 43"), 2nd in discus (118' 9")

Garrett Brunk:  3rd in 300 meter hurdles (44.73); 5th in 110 meter hurdles (18.24)

Tate Busse:  2nd in 800 meters (2:10.86)

Jude Faulkender:  1st in discus (120' 6"), 4th in shot put (40' 1.25")

J. R. Landenbeger:  6th in 100 meter dash (12.10)

Erik Nelsen:  6th in 110 meter hurdles (19.21)

Dalton Straub:  6th in long jump (17' 8")

Kyler Zweygardt:  6th in discus (107' 4")

4 X 400 meter relay:  2nd (3:48.98) - Justin Pacheco, Tate Busse, Quinton Cravens, and Lane Hobrock

4 X 800 meter relay:  1st (9:16.03) - Jake Faulkender, Tate Busse, Matt Howell, and Francisco Fernandez

Girls

Wheatland-Grinnell won the girls team championship earning 114.5 team points. Quinter placed second 74.5 and Northern Valley earned third place with 70. The remainder of the girls teams placed in the following order:  4th - Cheylin 44, 5th - Golden Plains 42, 5th - Trego Community 42, 7th - Triplains 41, 8th - St. Francis 37.5, 9th - Weskan 33, 10th - Wallace County 18, 11th - Oakley 15, 12th - Greeley County 12, 13th - Palco 10, 14th - Western Plains 2, 15th - Heartland Christian 1.5, and 16th - Brewster 1.

Girls placing in the meet are listed below.

Journey Lee:  6th in pole vault (7' 6')

Dallas Reed:  1st in pole vault (9' 6")

Kayla Reed:  6th in 100 meter dash (14.38)

Zoe Sundstrom:  5th (tie) in 100 meter hurdles (18.32)

McKenzie Taylor:  5th (tie) in 100 meter hurdles (18.32)

Valerie Wurm:  1st in 100 meter dash (13.26)

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (53.92) - McKayla Taylor, Valerie Wurm, Kayla Reed, and McKenzie Taylor

4 X 400 meter relay - 5th (4:50.96) - Madison Tice, Kylie Sherlock, Ashlee Orth, and Emily Elfers

4 X 800 meter relay - 6th (12:06.61) - Emily Elfers, Reagan Beims, Emileigh Dinkel, and Mallory Mills

The teams will be competing in the Oakley Invitational on Friday, April 24.
