8th Grade Boys Win NWKL Track Championship
Jordan Raby Sets New School Record
The St. Francis junior high track teams competed in the Northwest Kansas League Junior High Track and Field Meet in Atwood on Thursday, May 14th. The meet was competed in four divisions - 8th boys, 8th girls, 7th boys, and 7th girls. The St. Francis 8th grade boys won the NWKL Championship scoring 135 team points. The St. Francis athletes competed very well and earned numerous new personal records. The 7th grade boys team earned a 7th place finish. The 8th grade girls team and the 7th grade girls team both finished in 6th place.
St. Francis had several individual and relay event winners. Jordan Raby won the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes in the 8th grade boys division. Jordan also set a new St. Francis Junior High School record in the 400 meter dash finishing in 54.84. The old record was 55.86 set by Chad Wolfe in 1988. Draven Houtman won the 8th boys high jump clearing 5' 0". Tayton Weeter won the 8th boys pole vault clearing 10' 0". The 8th grade boys 4 X 100 meter relay team (Cody Baxter, Hunter Helton, Mason Schmid, and Jordan Raby) also won in a time of 51.26. In the 7th grade boys division, Isaiah Lee won the pole vault with a vault of 7' 0". In the 8th grade girls division, Lauren Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Teagan Landenberger, and Echoe Lennox won the 4 X 100 relay with a time of 1:00.07. The 8th girls 4 X 200 meter relay (Lauren Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Jessica Confer, and Echoe Lennox) ran 2:09.56 to earn first place.

8th Grade Boys Division
St. Francis won the 8th grade boys division earning 135 team points. Wallace County placed 2nd with 93. The remainder of the teams finished in the following order: 3rd - Decatur Community - 68, 4th (tie) - Hoxie 57, 4th - (tie) Rawlins County 57, 6th - Quinter 47, 7th Greeley County 36, and 8th Dighton 25.

8th Grade Girls Division
Decatur Community edged Rawlins County for the 8th grade girls championship. Decatur Community scored 107 team points to 101 for Rawlins County. Quinter placed 3rd with 98. The rest of the teams finished as follows: 4th - Wallace County 85, 5th - Hoxie 46, 6th - St. Francis 39, 7th - Dighton 31, and 8th - Greeley County 5.

Jesscia Confer: 4th in shot put 29' 6"; 5th in discus - 72' 4"
Lauren Johnson: 3rd in shot put 29' 11"; 5th in triple jump - 25' 5"
Lindsey Johnson: 4th in 200 meter hurdles - 37.00, 5th in 100 meters - 14.87
Echoe Lennox: 5th in 200 meter hurdles - 39.54

7th Grade Boys Division
Hoxie won the 7th grade boys division with 123 points. Greeley County placed second with 91 team points. The other NWKL schools finished as follows: 3rd - Wallace County 68, 4th - Dighton 48, 5th - Decatur Community 46, 6th - Quinter 28, 7th - St. Francis 26, and 8th - Rawlins County 17.Seventh grade boys placing in the NWKL Meet are listed below:

7th Grade Girls Division
The 7th grade girls division was won by Wallace County with 85 points. Decatur Community placed second with 78. The remainder of the teams finished in the following order: 3rd - Rawlins County 76, 4th - Dighton 70, 5th - Hoxie 63, 6th - St. Francis 50, 7th - Greeley County 44, and 8th - Quinter 20.
