Singing Valentines to be Delivered

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, music students at St. Francis Community High School can be heard practicing love songs in preparation for their annual "Singing Valentine" delivery. Most deliveries this year will be made on Friday, Feb. 12, as Valentine's Day falls on a weekend.

A Singing Valentine consists of a balloon with a small bag of candy attached, and a love or friendship song. The cost of a Singing Valentine is the same as it was when this project began about 16 years ago, despite rising costs of candy and supplies. Students are also offering the option of an additional gift (a small plush Valentine animal, larger bag of candy, etc.) for a few extra dollars.

The students who are participating in the singing Valentine project will be using the proceeds to attend a dinner theatre production in Boulder on March 25.

Order forms for Singing Valentines are available in posters at the high school office and the post office bulletin board. High school vocal, band and advanced music students can also take orders and answer questions about the project. Singing Valentines cannot be delivered to the Grade School building this year but can be delivered anywhere else in St. Francis.
