Coach Dylan Loyd shared the following comments on the evening.

"The St. Francis junior high wrestling team took part in their first competition of the season this past Thursday in Oberlin and it was definitely time for these guys to battle against other people other than each other. These guys have been practicing now for a little over three weeks and I know that they were ready to beat on other people other than themselves. This is a very good group of young men who really do a good job of going out and competing. There isn’t a whole lot of experience in this group but they make up for that with their competitive drive and their ability to be coachable. A lot of these kids won matches Thursday just based on feel and feel alone and as a coach that is very encouraging to me. I was very impressed with how they all went out there and battled. Right now at this juncture there is a lot of technique that still has yet to be shown and for them to compete like they did their first time out was definitely encouraging. We preach to these guys about what we look for as coaches when they go out and compete and that is effort, of course the winning is fun but, if you go out there and give 100% effort at the end of the day we, as coach’s, will be happy. That’s exactly what this group did. There is a lot of just natural talent to work with in this group and I am looking forward to watching them improve as we progress throughout the rest of the season. Out of the 34 total matches these guys wrestling in on Thursday they were able to win 22 out of the 34 with 16 of them being by fall; that is pretty dominating. They have the taste of success now and it will be very important for them to continue to work hard to improve every day and I believe that this group will. We had a great fan following there as well, and that makes it all the better. Definitely looking forward to watching them throughout the rest of this season."
