SFCHS Track Athletes Qualify For State

The Regional Track and Field Meet was held in Hill City on Friday, May 20. The competition was keen, but several St. Francis HIgh School athletes turned in performances placing in the top four positions and thus earned the opportunity to compete in the Kansas State High School Track and Field Meet to be held at Cessna Stadium in Wichita on May 27 and 28.

Qualifying for the State Track Meet were:  Journey Lee in the pole vault, McKenzie Taylor in the 100 meter dash, Taylor Rogers in the 400 meter dash, the girls 4 X 100 meter relay (Journey Lee, Madi Tice, McKenzie Taylor, and Jylian Laten) and the boys 4 X 400 meter relay team (Taylor Rogers, Jordan Raby, Tate Busse, and Lane Hobrock). Lauren Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Garrett Brunk , and Quinton Cravens will attend the State Meet as relay alternates.

St. Francis athletes placing in the Regional Track  Meet are listed below.

Girls Division

Emily Elfers - 6th in 300 meter hurdles (54.22)

Journey Lee - 3rd (tie) in pole vault (8' 6")

Zoe Sundstrom - 6th in 100 meter hurdles (18.09)

McKenzie Taylor - 4th in 100 meter dash (13.55)

4 X 100 meter relay -4th  Madi Tice, McKenzie Taylor, Journey Lee, and Jylian Laten (54.10)

4 X 400 meter relay - 6th  Journey Lee, McKenzie Taylor, Reagan Beims, and Lauren Johnson (4:32.48)

Ellis won the girls division with 95 team points. Bennington placed second with 78 and Hill City third with 68. The remainder of the girls teams placed in the following order:  4th - Salina Sacred Heart 52, 5th - Smith Center 41, 6th - Lincoln 39.5, 7th - Decatur Community 33, 8th - Trego Community 31, 9th - Solomon 27, 10th - Plainville 26, 11th - St. Francis 16, 12th - Oakley 15.5, 13th - Rawlins County 14, 14th (tie) - Ell-Saline 11, and 14th (tie) Wichita County 11.

 

Boys Division

Jake Faulkender - 5th in 3200 meter run (11:22.75)

Taylor Rogers - 3rd in 400 meters (52.10), 5th in 100 meters (11.73)

4 X 100 meter relay - 6th  Carl Fabre, Taylor Rogers, Lane Hobrock, and J.R. Landenberger (45.79)

4 X 400 meter relay - 2nd  Taylor Rogers, Tate Busse, Jordan Raby, and Lane Hobrock (3:30.79)

4 X 800 meter relay - 5th  Jake Faulkeder, K.C. Krien, Brock Waters, and Tate Busse (8:46.20)

The boys division was won by Wichita County with 120 points. Bennington placed second with 71. The rest of the field placed in the following order:  3rd - Plainville 68, 4th - Salina Sacred Heart 66, 5th - Smith Center 61, 6th - Solomon 60, 7th - Ell-Saline 27, 8th (tie) - St. Francis 21, 8th (tie) Trego Community 21, 10th - Hill City 20, 11th - Oakley 10, 12th - Decatur Community 6, 13th - Rawlins County 5, and 14th - Ellis 2.
