Lady Indians Victorious against Cheylin Cougars and lose close game to Weskan Wolves

Lady Indians work as a team to let each other know the ball was out of bounds.ST. FRANCIS KAN. -- The Lady Indians beat the Cheylin Cougars in two sets and lost to the Weskan Wolves Tuesday, September 6 at St. Francis Community High School.
In the first set against the Weskan Wolves, the Lady Indians pushed themselves, but came up short losing 21-25. In the second quarter, the Lady Indians fell behind and couldn’t recover giving the the Wolves another victory with a final score of 18-25.

Lauren Johnson, St. Francis sophomore, spikes the ball over the net.The beginning of the first set against the Cheylin Cougars was a close one. Into the game, the Lady Indians developed a steady lead with a score of 15-10. From there, the game belonged to the Indians with a final score of 25-14.
“I think the girls performed great as a team, they fought hard for every point. They found the open spots where the Cougars weren’t covering. The communication between the girls on the court was wonderful. I believe they deserved the win. They believed in themselves and they took care of business,” said Head Coach Sarah Raile.

The next opportunity to cheer on the St. Francis volleyball girls is at the Gove County Tournament this Saturday, Sept. 10 in Grainfield at 9 a.m.
