ST. FRANCIS, KAN. - Lady Junior High Indians won two out of three volleyball games against the Lady Buffaloes on Thursday, Sept. 22 at home. The A-Team, despite playing well and only missing three serves, ultimately lost their game, 11-25 and 24-26. The B and C-Teams dominated their games. The Indians’ B-Team won the second game, 25-22, 10-25, 15-6. St. Francis’s C-Team won 25-21 and 25-22.

The team felt like winners before even going out on the court because of their tight-knit team atmosphere.

“My biggest fear was to let my team down, but after all I realized no matter if we win or lose, we still gave it all we had and played not like a team, but a family,” said Mireya Palacio-Rocha, St. Francis eighth grader.

Emma Johnson, St. Francis eighth grader, agreed with Palacio-Rocha in regards to team effort.

“What I enjoyed most was playing with my team. I enjoy it even if we lose or win,” said Johnson.

The Indian ladies did their best and left it all on the volleyball court.

“The most remarkable event of the game was when we came back with a strong match after a bad one. Jordan had a serve run. The nerves just got to us, but we still had a strong team,” said Coach ShayLinn Zweygardt.

The next junior high volleyball game will be Thursday, Sept. 29 at Sharon Springs at 4:30 p.m.
