Booster Club: A Supportive Group for SFCHS

The Saint Francis Booster Club is an adult-lead group that helps support our school.

“I love the Booster Club,” said Lindsey Johnson, Saint Francis sophomore. “They give our school great support. They don’t just support sports, it’s all activities. They bring a lot of school spirit to SFCHS.”

Susan Dinkel, Booster Club president, said last year was the first year for the club, but they have already made a big difference.

“The Booster Club has benefited the community by increasing awareness of our school activities and by giving almost $12,000 back to the students and their programs,” said Dinkel.

She said the goal of the club is to increase school spirit and support the students in all of their activities. “I am involved with Booster Club because I think it is a valuable program,” said Dinkel. “The Booster Club helps with all organizations in the school - focusing mostly on high school activities.”

Johnson also said Booster Club has helped her a lot by feeding the team meals before some volleyball games. “They give us money if we need it. They are always there to help out,” she said.

Dinkel said her favorite part about being involved in Booster Club is working closely with the students by serving them meals.

Tiffany Poet, Saint Francis agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor, said the Booster Club is a benefit for all student activities.

“The Booster Club supports the students’ involvement in all school-related activities,” Poet said. “They provide signs, meals and pep to the student groups. I believe in supporting each student in every activity they are involved in and love that the Booster Club works for each student and group.”

Poet said she is involved in the Booster Club because it supports everything from FFA to athletics to scholar’s bowl to band and vocal.

“When I moved to St Francis, I knew that the small town kids were involved in everything,” Poet said. “My students aren't just academic students. I love supporting them in their academics, athletics and extracurricular activities because it allows me to get to know them better and understand what is important to them.”

Poet and Dinkel both said students can show their appreciation to the Booster Club by verbally saying thank you. “I think a simple thank you is really the most special thing you can do to show appreciation,” Dinkel said.

”Thank you's are always appropriate and a good idea,” Poet said. “I think the students also need to show their appreciation to the community members that donate to their groups. I think the students have taken for granted how supportive their community is.”

To get involved in the Booster Club, visit the information table set up at many of the home games or contact the leadership committee.

“Encourage your parents to become a part of us,” said Dinkel. “You benefit from everything the rest of the members do, so, it would be nice to increase our membership.”

If you can’t visit an information table at a home game, you can contact one of the following Booster Club members about becoming associated with the organization: Stephanie Workman, Michele De Waal, Andi Culwell, Karoline Waters, Ericka Wieck.

“Join the Booster Club! It’s only $40 a year and that includes a free t-shirt,” said Dinkel.
