FFA Year Begins with New Members and Renewed Focus
Fruit, Meat, & Cheese Sales Underway
The SFCHS FFA held their chapter meeting October 5, 2016. There are 58 St. Francis FFA members on the 2016-2017 roster. The FFA chapter goal this year to give back more to our community. We are focusing on community service and giving more scholarships to senior members. FFA members have the opportunity earn their participation in the annual FFA Trip. To be eligible to go on the FFA Trip, members must to sell the minimum goal for fruit, meat, and cheese sales, help at concessions once, and participate in at least one CDE (Career Development Event).
Twenty-six students have been practicing for the upcoming CDE´s. Bird City will be hosting Dairy Judging, Food Science, and Dairy Foods on October 12th. The requirements to be eligible to go to CDE’s have increased this year, and members are being held to a higher standard. Requirements include members being academically eligible by school standards, signing up at the beginning of the year, having a minimum of three practices with the advisor, and written proof of tests, reasons and/or practices.
FFA Fruit, Meat, and Cheese sales have started and will run until November 9th. The FFA Members will be selling fruit, meat and cheese to raise funds for meals, hotels, other chapter activities throughout the year. The member goal for each member is $400. If the freshman sells $450 their FFA Jackets will be paid for by the FFA Chapter. We are looking forward to an exciting year full of new challenges and memories.
