SAINT FRANCIS, Kan. -- On Monday, Oct. 10, the Saint Francis Indians defeated the Atwood Buffaloes in the fourth quarter, 52-16.

The Indians were ahead with a score of 30-0 in the first quarter after Brady Dinkel, Saint Francis freshman, intercepted the Buffaloes’ ball and ran it in for a touchdown after a fumble was forced by Tayton Weeter, Saint Francis sophomore, and recovered by Tiernan Poling, Saint Francis sophomore.

The Indians won in the fourth quarter with a final score of 52-16. Even though the win was exciting, there were many flags thrown during the game.

“It feels good to win against our rivals, we just need to work on focusing because we had flags everywhere,” said Jaron Berig, Saint Francis freshman.

Saint Francis Senior Keanu Bussell said, “It wasn't a pretty game but we got the job done.”

Two more touchdowns were scored in the third quarter to increase the Indians’ lead to 52.

“I’m happy we won, but we need to make less mistakes,” said Blake Utsler, Saint Francis junior.

The next junior varsity game will be Monday, Oct. 17 at home against Leoti at 5:30 p.m.
