Indians Run Over the Wildcats
The Wallace County Wildcats gave the Indians little resistance in their junior high football contest held on Thursday, September 29. The Indians rolled to a 48-0 victory with the game concluding at halftime due to the 45-point rule.
St. Francis kicked-off to open the contest. Four plays later, the Wildcats were forced to punt. Jesse Baxter blocked the Wallace County (WC) punt, and the Indians took over at the 24-yard line. On the Indians' first offensive play of the game, quarterback Shadryon Blanka tossed a 24-yard scoring pass to Jesse Baxter. Adam Krien ran for the conversion points to give the Indians an 8-0 lead with 6:28 left in the first quarter.
The next Wallace County punt was returned 55 yards for a touchdown by Adam Krien. Krien also ran for the conversion points. St. Francis led 16-0.
After the kick-off, Wallace County fumbled on the 1-yard line, and the Indians recovered. After a penalty on the Indians, Adam Krien powered 6 yards for another SF touchdown. Krien also ran for the conversion giving the Indians a 24-0 advantage.
A few plays later, Krien intercepted a Wallace County pass and bolted 58 yards for yet another score. Shannon Rethke ran for the conversion points increasing the deficit to 32-0.
Wallace County soon punted again. On the 1st play of the Indian possession, Shadryon Blanka ran 16 yards for a touchdown. Blanka passed to Garin Cooper for the conversion points. The margin increased to 40-0 before the 1st quarter horn had sounded.
The Wildcats could not advance the ball against the Indian defense and soon punted again. After the kick, Blanka rambled 43 yards early in the second quarter for the sixth St. Francis touchdown. Caleb Todd scored on the conversion run to give the Indians a 48-0 lead.
St. Francis kicked-off again, but the Wildcats did not cover the kick well. St. Francis recovered the football, and with all of the young Indians seeing playing time, began to advance again. Unfortunately, the Indians fumbled, and the Wildcats recovered. Facing 4th down, the Wildcats attempted a fake punt and did not convert the first down. The Indians took over, eventually losing possession on downs before the clock expired.
