On November 5, high school vocalists had live auditions on three very difficult pieces of music. Three St. Francis students made were selected from the auditions: April Fernandez (soprano), Katie Schmid (alto), and Taryn Zweygardt (tenor). On the same day, three high school instrumentalists had auditions via CD recordings. All three of them made it into the Honor Band. The students in selected for Honor Band were Jenna Confer, 2nd chair clarinet; Jessica Confer, 4th chair trumpet; Nick Paulsen, 5th chair trumpet. Their clinic and concert will take place on December 10, at Fort Hays State University, at 3:30 in the afternoon.

All of these Honor Ensembles are sponsored by the Northwest Kansas KMEA (Kansas Music Educators Association) and are District Level. The High School students, upon meeting certain requirements at District, are then eligible for State Band and Choir (1234A), which occurs on February 27 in Wichita.

Congratulations, music students!
