Journalism Students Place in Regional

On February 23, several St. Francis High School Journalism students competed in the Kansas Scholastic Press Association Regional Journalism Contest in Hays, Kansas. The SFCHS students placed second overall with seventeen students qualifying for the State Contest to be held at Kansas University in Lawrence on May 6, 2017.

The students' Regional placings are listed below. All of the students listed below have qualified for the State Journalism Contest.

First Place:  Jessica Confer - Yearbook Copy Writing; Audrey Meyer - Feature Writing; Tayton Weeter - Advertising; Jake Faulkender - Photo Illustration; and Bryce Raby - Sports Photography

Second Place:  EmmaLee Archuleta - Cutline Writing and Madi Tice - News Page Design

Third Place:  Katie Schmid - Copy Editing; Reagan Beims - Headline Writing and Design; Dakota Morris - Academics Photography; and Seth Mills - Infographics

Honorable Mention:  Reagan Beims - Sports Writing; Cassidy Busse - Sports Writing; Connor Keller - Editorial Cartoon; Jaron Berig - Infographics; Shelby Wolff - Editorial Writing; Alondra Gomez - Academics Photography; and Jenna Confer for Yearbook Theme and Graphics.
