Trackers Win Two Divisions In SF Invitational

Two New School Records Set

The St. Francis Junior High Invitational Track and Field Meet was held on Tuesday, April 18. The meet was run with four divisions--8th Girls, 8th Boys, 6th-7th Girls and 6th-7th Boys. St. Francis won two of the four divisions. The 7th grade girls and the 8th grade boys won their respective divisions. The 6th-7th grade boys placed 4th and the 8th grade girls finished ninth in the 10 team meet.

St. Francis athletes won 14 events in the meet. Winning first place were: Jesse Baxter (discus), Shadryon Blanka (pole vault), Garin Cooper (long jump and triple jump), Adam Krien (100m), Lyden Lampe (1600m ), McKenna Poling (100m, 200m, and 400m), 8th grade boys 4 X 100m relay, 7th grade girls 4 X 100m relay, 8th grade boys 4 X 200m relay, 7th grade girls 4 X 200m relay, and the 7th grade boys 4 X 400 meter relay.

Two new school records were set during the track meet. Garin Cooper established a new 8th grade boys school record in the triple jump leaping 37' 2'. The jump surpassed the old record of 36' 11.5" set in 2012 by Lane Hobrock. The 4 X 100 meter relay team also set a new school record recording a time of 49.26 seconds. The record was set by Garin Cooper, Shadryon Blanka, Tyson Poling and Adam Krien. The old mark was 49.37 set in 2006 by Trent Raile, Alex Long, Drew Zweygardt, and Matt Raile. 

8th Grade Boys

St. Francis scored 154 team points to win the 8th grade boys division. Rawlins County placed second with 88 points and Decatur Community third with 61. The remainder of the teams finished in the following order:  4th - Cheylin 50, 5th - Wallace County 45, 6th - Brewster 34, 7th - Weskan 24, 8th - Idalia 19, and 9th - Heartland-Christian 2.

St. Francis 8th grade boys placing in the meet are listed below.

Jesse Baxter - 1st in discus (130' 1"), 2nd in shot put (36' 0.5")

Shadryon Blanka - 1st in pole vault (9' 6"), 2nd in 200 meter hurdles (31.37)

Garin Cooper - 1st in long jump (16' 7.5"), 1st in triple jump (37' 2") NEW SCHOOL RECORD

Seth Grice - 5th in triple jump (28' 3")

Adam Krien - 1st in 100 meters (12.50), 2nd in 200 meters (25.47), 2nd in 400 meters (56.90)

Colton Neitzel - 3rd in shot put (35' 9"), 3rd in high jump (4' 10"), 4th in discus (84' 4')

Tyson Poling - 2nd in 100 meters (12.93), 2nd in high jump (5' 0"), 3rd in 200 meters (26.89)

Brady Schoenrogge - 3rd in 800 meters (3:10.96)

Kobe Tice - 2nd in pole vault (9' 0")

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (49.26) NEW SCHOOL RECORD - Garin Cooper, Shadryon Blanka, Tyson Poling, and Adam Krien

8th Grade Girls

Wallace County won the 8th grade girls division scoring 101 team points.Rawlins County placed second with 70 points. Cheylin earned third with 63. The additional teams placed in the following order:  4th - Weskan 59, 5th - Decatur Community 56, 6th - Idalia 35, 7th - Triplains 31, 8th - Brewster 22, and 9th - St. Francis 14.

St. Francis 8th grade girls placing in the meet are listed below.

Mireya Palasio-Rocha - 2nd in 800 meters (3:44.16)

Kattie Wurm - 3rd in 3200 meters (17:155.93)

6th-7th Grade Boys

Decatur Community won the 6-7 boys division with 117 points. Triplains scored 96 to place second. The rest of the teams finished in the following order:  3rd - Idalia 84, 4th - St. Francis 50, 5th - Wallace County 36, 6th - Brewster 28, 7th - Rawlins County 22, 8th - Weskan 17, 9th - Cheylin 13, and 10th - Heartland-Christian 3.

St. Francis boys placings in the 6th-7th grade division are listed below.

Ben Busse - 4th in 1600 meters (6:00.78)

Vladimir Chinik - 5th in long jump (12' 9.5"), 6th in 200 meters (32.87)

Garrett Helton - 3rd in triple jump (24' 9.75")

Shannon Rethke - 2nd in 200 meter hurdles (36.08), 5th in 400 meters (1:13.41)

Preston Witzel - 2nd in 200 meters (31.09), 6th in 100 meters (14.57)

4 X 200 meter relay - 2nd (2:20.32) - Vladimir Chinik, Eli Mills, Caleb Todd, and Kaden Lee

4 X 400 meter relay - 1st (4:57.57) - Ben Busse, Eli Mills, Preston Witzel, and Shannon Rethke

6th-7th Grade Girls

St. Francis earned first place in the 6-7 girls division. The Lady Indians scored 162 team points. Rawlins County placed second with 109 points. The remainder of the girls teams placed in the following order:  3rd - Wallace County 85, 4th - Decatur Community 37, 5th - Idalia 32, 6th - Cheylin 19, 7th - Heartland-Christian 12, 8th - Triplains 8, and 9th - Weskan 7.

St. Francis Lady Indians placing in the 6th-7th grade division are listed below.

Jordyn Faulkender - 4th in high jump (3' 6")

Joani Fuller - 5th in high jump (3' 2")

Hadleigh Hilt - 4th (tie) in 100 meters (14.88), 4th in long jump (11' 11")

Amy Jenkins - 2nd in 1600 meters (6:42.16), 3rd in 800 meters (2:59.92)

Lydia Jenkins - 4th in 1600 meters (7:13.36)

Lyden Lampe - 1st in 1600 meters (6:28.85)

Mia Morrow - 2nd in 100 meter hurdles (20.45), 2nd in 200 meter hurdles (35.07), 2nd in  pole vault (5' 6"), 4th in triple jump (25' 9.25")

Amanda Neitzel - 3rd in high jump (3' 8")

McKenna Poling - 1st in 100 meters (14.21), 1st in 200 meters (29.71), 1st in 400 meters (1:07.57)

Hailey Robbins - 4th in 100 meter hurdles (21.88), 4th in 200 meter hurdles (40.86), 4th in pole vault (4' 6")

​The track teams will be in action at the Atwood Quad on Thursday, April 20, in Atwood. The meet begins at 3:00 p.m.
