Indians Win Oakley Invitational; Lady Indians Eighth

The St. Francis Indians won the team championship at the Oakley Invitational Track and Field Meet held on Thursday, April 20. The meet was originally scheduled for Friday, April 21, but was moved to a day earlier due to predicted inclement weather. The move proved to be a good one, as Thursday was a good day for competition, and Friday proved to be cold and rainy.

St. Francis had several individual event winners at the meet. St. Francis athletes winning events included:   for the boys:  Jordan Raby, 100 and 400; Taylor Rogers, 200; Brady Dinkel, 800; Tiernan Poling, pole vault; 4 X 100 meter relay, and 4 X 400 meter relay; and for the girls:  the 4 X 100 meter relay team.

Boys Division

St. Francis ran away with the boys division scoring 131 team points. Wallace County placed a distant second with 77. The remainder of the participating schools finished in the following order:  3rd- Oakley 70, 4th - Brewster 58, 5th - Rawlins County 56, 6th - Weskan 40, 7th - Wheatland-Grinnell 34, 8th - Hoxie 25, 9th - Hill City 19, 10th - Triplains 17, 11th - Golden Plains 11, 12th - Cheylin 10, and 13th - Quinter 7.

St. Francis athletes placing in the meet are listed below.

Cody Baxter - 2nd in 110 meter hurdles (17.22), 2nd in 300 meter hurdles (43.84)

Tate Busse - 2nd in high jump (5' 10"), 3rd in 100 meters (11.61)

Brady Dinkel - 1st in 800 meters (2:14.94)

Wyatt Hackler - 2nd in 100 meters (11.47)

Kouper McQuigg - 4th in 3200 meters (11:56.79)

Luin Norris - 3rd in discus (120' 0")

Tiernan Poling - 1st in pole vault (10' 6"), 5th in triple jump (36' 0.75")

Jordan Raby - 1st in 100 meters (11.24), 1st in 400 meters (52.10)

Taylor Rogers - 1st in 200 meters (23.20)

Dalton Straub - 3rd in long jump (19' 2.25"), 4th in 200 meters (24.98)

Brock Waters - 6th in 800 meters (2:29.00)

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (44.48) - Wyatt Hackler, Jordan Raby, Tate Busse, and Taylor Rogers

4 X 400 meter relay - 1st (3:30.80) - Jordan Raby, Taylor Rogers, Wyatt Hackler, and Tate Busse

Girls Division

The girls division was closely contested. Oakley won the team championship scoring 82 points. Wallace County placed second with 74 and Golden Plains 3rd with 68. The rest of the teams finished in the following order:  4th - Quinter 57, 5th - Wheatland-Grinnell 50, 6th - Hill City 49, 7th - Rawlins County 40, 8th - St. Francis 39, 9th - Hoxie 28, 10th - Triplains 22, 11th - Weskan 16, and 12th - Cheylin 14.

Reagan Beims - 6th in 200 meters (25.60)

Emileigh Dinkel - 6th in 300 hurdles (55.52)

Alondra Gomez - 5th in pole vault (6' 0")

Lauren Johnson - 5th in 200 meters (29.57), 6th in 100 meters (13.90)

Lindsey Johnson - 4th in 100 meters (13.80)

Taighe Weeter - 3rd in 800 meters (2:42.31)

Hannah Zimbal - 4th in 400 meters (1:05.70)

4 X 100 meter relay - 2nd (54.75) - Madison Tice, Hannah Zimbal, Jylian Laten, and Lindsey Johnson

4 x 400 meter relay - 1st (4:28.88) - Hannah Zimbal, Madison Tice, Reagan Beims, and Taighe Weeter

The track teams will compete in the St. Francis Invitational Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, April 25, in St. Francis.
