JH Boys Win Quinter Invitational

Two More School Records Set

The junior high boys track team won the Quinter Invitational Track and Field Meet on Friday, April 28. The young Indians scored 123 team points to run away with the team title. Oakley placed second with 96 points. The Lady Indians earned a 4th place finish with 62 team points. Two new school records were set during the competition. Jesse Baxter set a new 8th grade boys school record in the discus with a toss of 137' 10". The throw erased the old record of 134' 9.5" set by Alan King in 1976. Garin Cooper also increased his own triple jump record by 1/2", jumping 37' 3.5".

St. Francis athletes winning events included: Adam Krien, 100m and 200m; Shadryon Blanka, pole vault; Garin Cooper, long jump and triple jump; the boys 4 X 100 meter relay team, and the boys 4 X 400 meter relay team. Boys Division

St. Francis won the boys division with 123 team points. Qakley placed second with 96 and Northern Valley 3rd with 76. The remainder of the boys teams finished in the following order:  4th - Grinnell-Wheatland 45, 5th - Hoxie 37, 6th - Brewster - 36, 7th - Dighton 34, 8th - Golden Plains 33, 9th - Cheylin 16, 10th - Quinter 14, 11th - Triplains 9, 12th - Western Plains 4, and 13th - Heartland Christian 1.

Indians placing in the meet are listed below.

Jesse Baxter - 1st in discus (137' 10") NEW SCHOOL RECORD!, 5th in shot put (35' 11")

Shadryon Blanka - 1st in pole vault (9' 6"), 3rd in 200 meter hurdles (31.36)

Ben Busse - 6th in 800 meters (2:53.40)

Garin Cooper - 1st in long jump (17' 7"), 1st in triple jump (37' 3.5") NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

Adam Krien - 1st in 100 meters (12.35), 1st in 200 meters (25.05)

Colton Neitzel - 4th in shot put (36' 5.75")

Tyson Poling - 3rd in high jump (4' 10"), 4th in 100 meters (13.01), 4th in 200 meters (26.58)

Kobe Tice - 2nd in pole vault (9' 0")

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (50.43) - Garin Cooper, Shadryon Blanka, Tyson Poling, and Adam Krien

4 X 200 meter relay - 2nd (1:57.83) - Kobe Tice, Colton Neitzel, Jesse Baxter, and Seth Grice

4 X 400 meter relay - 1st (4:12.29) - Garin Cooper, Shadryon Blanka, Kobe Tice, and Adam Krien

Girls Division

Grinnell-Wheatland won the girls division with 94 team points. Hoxie was a close second with 88. Golden Plains placed 3rd with 67. The remainder of the girls teams placed in the following order:  4th - St. Francis 62, 5th - Northern Valley 51, 6th (tie) - Quinter 46, 6th (tie) - Oakley 46, 8th - Dighton 28, 9th - Western Plains 30, 10th - Cheylin 11, 11th - Weskan 10, 12th (tie) - Triplains 2, and 12th (tie) Healey 2.

Junior high Lady Indians placing in the Quinter Invitational are listed below.

Amy Jenkins - 3rd in 1600 meters (6:37.69), 4th in 800 meters (3:00.05)

Lyden Lampe - 5th in 1600 meters (6:44.51)

Mia Morrow - 3rd in triple jump (26' 10"), 6th in 200 meter hurdles (37.43)

McKenna Poling - 2nd in 100 meters (14.03), 2nd in 200 meters (30.04), 2nd in 400 meters (1:09.19)

Talexa Weeter - 3rd in pole vault (6' 0")

Kattie Wurm - 2nd in 3200 meters (16:33.48)

2 X 200 meter relay - 4th (2:12.36) - Ellee Krien, Miah Hackney, Lyden Lampe, and Hadleigh Hilt

4 X 400 meter relay - 6th (5:18.99) - Ellee Krien, Amy Jenkins, Lyden Lampe, and Talexa Weeter
