Junior High Girls Sweep Wallace County

St. Francis defeated Wallace County in all three junior high girls basketball contests played on Thursday, November 9 in St. Francis. The A-team girls earned a 39-17 victory in the High School Gymnasium, and the B-team defeated the Lady Wildcats 47-18 at the Grade School. The C-team Lady Indians won a two-quarter contest 9-6.

In A-team action, Wallace County opened the scoring on a post basket to lead 0-2. The Lady Indians responded with 10 consecutive points to take a 12-2 lead. The Lady Indians received 4 points from Jordan Faulkender and two each from McKenna Poling, Talexa Weeter, Ellee Krien, and Lyden Lampe in the run. Wallace County scored late in the period to move the score to 12-4 at the break.

Two assists by Mia Morrow led to baskets by Poling and Faulkender to open the second quarter. Kendalynn Miller (8th) answered with a baseline jumper. The next assist by Morrow led to another Faulkender basket on a break. A driving basket by Weeter closed the first half. St. Francis led 20-11 at halftime.

The Lady Indians continued to widen the margin in the third period. The Lady Indians scored 7 points getting baskets from Jordan Faulkender and Mia Morrow to extended the lead to 24-11 and closing with free-throws by Faulkender (2) and Talexa Weeter (1). St. Francis led 27-13 after three quarters.

Wallace County opened the final period with an offensive rebound basket by Breanna Medina (8th). St. Francis then added a left wing trey and drive by Talexa Weeter and a driving basket by Lyden Lampe to extend the margin to 34-15. Another post basket by Medina ended the run. Weeter scored 9 points in the final period. St. Francis defeated Wallace County 39-17.

Scoring for St. Francis in the A-team game were:  Talexa Weeter 14, Jordan Faulkender 12, Ellee Krien 4, McKenna Poling 4, Lyden Lampe 2, and Mia Morrow 2, and Miah Hackney 1. Wallace County was led by 8th graders Jesse Smith with 5 and Breanna Medina with 4.
