Winter Sports Practices Underway

November 13 was the first day winter sports practice as mandated by the Kansas High School Activities Association. St. Francis teams have begun preparing for the upcoming winter sports seasons in three high school sports and the days of competition will soon be here. The basketball teams will open competition on Friday, December 1, when the teams play Quinter in St. Francis. The wrestling team will open competition on Saturday, December 2, when the Indians host the St. Francis Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

The girls basketball team has eleven team members this season. The team will be coached by Shaylinn Zweygardt and Matt Bandel. Serving as managers for the team will be Matthisen Witzel and Cassidy Busse. Team members include:  Seniors - Reagan Beims, Hanna Bracelin, Emileigh Dinkel, and Jylian Laten; Juniors - Lauren Johnson and Lindsey Johnson; Sophomores - Karly Bandel, Alondra Gomez, Taighe Weeter, and Hannah Zimbal; Freshman - Emma Johnson.

The boys basketball team has twenty-two members. The Indians will be coached by Cory Busse and Devin Dinkel. Team members include:  Seniors - Tate Busse, Jake Faulkender, Wyatt Hackler, and Dalton Straub; Juniors - Wyatt Hilt, Draven Houtman, Richard Johnson, Connor Keller, K. C. Krien, Bryce Raby, Jordan Raby, and Tayton Weeter; Sophomores - Brady Dinkel and Isaiah Lee; Freshmen - Jesse Baxter, Rylan Doyle, Doyle Easter, Jasper Hunt, Adam Krien, Cutler Mayer, Colton Neitzel, Brady Schoenrogge, and Kobe Tice.

Ten athletes have reported for high school wrestling practice. They include:  Seniors - Trayton Doyle and Luin Norris; Juniors - Cody Baxter and Tiernan Poling; Sophomores - Seth Hilt, Aaron White, and Perla Yanez; Freshmen - Shadryon Blanka, Garin Cooper, and Tyson Poling. Audrey Meyer will serve as team manager. The wrestling team will be coached by Dylan Loyd and Kyle Buffington.
