Future kindergarten teacher shares her passion
Senior Matthisen Witzel said some of her hobbies include working with animals, hanging out with her family and working with little kids. Witzel said one of her favorite hobbies is going on mission trips. She said mission trips have had a lot of impact on her life in a very positive way. Witzel said she really enjoys telling people about the Gospel and seeing the impact it has on their lives.
Witzel said family support has been instrumental in her life. “My family’s support means a lot because senior year is really hard and stressful,” Witzel said. “It is nice to have an outlet from the craziness of college applications, school work and scholarships.” She said she will really miss her family next year while she is in college.
Witzel said Jesus is her biggest influence. “I try to honor Him in everything I do, whether it be school or my outside of school activities,” Witzel said she gives credit to Him for where she is at today.
For the past two years Matthisen has been a kindergarten aide for Saint Francis Kindergarten Teacher Lori Rieger. “She has become a part of our classroom and we love her,” Rieger said she hopes that Matthisen’s passion in teaching leads her to her own classroom someday. Rieger said she knows Witzel will make a wonderful teacher.
Steve Jenkins, history teacher, said he hopes to see Matthisen earn success in her years ahead. “Matthisen is a very hard worker in my class. She never fails to give it her best,” Jenkins said.
Sophomore Cassidy Busse said, “Matthisen is the kind of person who truly wants the best for everyone. She is someone who I look up to and I am so excited to see where life takes her.” Cassidy says she enjoys being manager with Witzel and will miss her next year as she goes off to college.
