Jr. High Girls Basketball come out on top against their rival Atwood Buffaloes

St. Francis junior high girls were able to pull out a nail biting overtime win over the Lady Buffaloes Thursday night. Right from the start, the score would go back and forth. At halftime the score was tied 18-18. Many turnovers and fouls were caused by full court pressure and aggressiveness on both ends of the court. The Lady Indians were leading 32-29 with eight seconds left and Atwood stole the ball and made a three-pointer right at the buzzer. St. Francis was able to pull out the victory with free throws being a key factor in their win in overtime. Final score was an Indian victory 37-34.

The B-Team Indians followed the A-Team’s lead with a victory of their own over the Buffaloes, 31-28.

The C-Team Indians also won their game, 24-13.

“We played with a lot of energy and worked hard,” said Rian Zimbal, seventh grader.

Seventh Grader Talexa Weeter said she thought the team had their heads in the game to result in the Indian victories. “I think we rebounded really good and made smart choices,” Weeter said.

Seventh Grader Ellee Krien said communication was key in the Indians pulling out the win over the Atwood Buffaloes. “I think we communicated and played really well together,” Krien said.
