Lady Indians Take Down Cheylin
On Tuesday, November 28, the junior high girls basketball A-Team went out with a bang. The Lady Indians had a fabulous win 39-9 against the visiting Lady Cougars. There was no B-Team game played on Tuesday.
McKenna Poling, eighth grader, said, “We all get along and we don't fight, I think that helps us all play together. We warm up together. We sit together, and we cheer together, so we play together. I feel like we played well as a team, but I think I could have played better. It was a fun game. We try to do our best to make it fun and it definitely was.”
Susan Dinkel, assistant coach, said the team struggled at practice the Monday after Thanksgiving break. “So it was a matter of if we were going to get our act together and perform well. Although we didn't do an exceptional job of communicating, we did rebound fairly well and made some shots. We have improved a great deal over the course of the last month, and it's been fun to watch them grow and improve game by game.”
Talexa Weeter, seventh grader, said teamwork and communication make the team play together as a team. “We do have room for improvement,” Weeter said. “It was a really fun and good game!”
Mia Morrow, eighth grader, said the team has bonded since last year. “At the beginning of last year, our team wasn't that close. At the end of last year, we were very close with the outgoing eighth graders and were very sad for them to go. Our teams got even closer this year and the new sixth graders fit right in.” Morrow said, “I play with my team because I love my teammates and want to help them win and be successful.”
Great season Lady Indians.
