Wrestlers Compete in Norton

Tiernan Poling placed 4th at the Norton Invitational.

On Saturday, January 6, the St. Francis wrestling team traveled to Norton to complete in the J.R. Durham Invitational Wrestling Tournament. The Indians placed 17th in the 19-team tournament scoring 27 team points. Tiernan Poling was the only Indian to place in the tournament earning 4th place in the 132 pound bracket.

Manhattan won the tournament with 170.5 team points. Garden City placed 2nd with 158 and Smith Center 3rd with 135 points. The remainder of the competing teams finished in the following order:  4th - Scott City 124, 5th - Norton 113, 6th - Cozad (NE) 91, 7th - Beloit 84, 8th - Cimarron 77, 9th - Hoxie 70, 10th (tie) - Decatur Community 53, 10th (tie) - Overland Park - Blue Valley 53, 12th - Marion 51, 13th Holcomb 47, 14th - Oakley 44.5, 15th - Rawlins County 43, 16th - McCook 37, 17th - St. Francis 27, 18th - Gypsum-Southeast of Saline 7, and 19th - Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian 6.
